Arsenal legend Ian Wright has identified the very mistake made by Manchester United manager in the Red Devils’ FA Cup final defeat to Manchester City on Saturday.
The former Premier League star said the Dutchman made a selection mistake and ‘definitely’ should have started Alejandro Garnacho.
Ten Hag started Marcus Rashford, Bruno Fernandes and Jadon Sancho in front for the all-Manchester FA Cup final at Wembley.
Pep Guardiola’s men made a stunning start as captain Ilkay Gundogan volleyed home the fastest goal in an FA Cup final after just 13 seconds.
Manchester United responded well and equalised before half-time through Bruno Fernandes’ penalty.
But Gundogan fired the Cityzenes in front again after the break and Manchester United were unable to find another equaliser.
However, Argentine winger Garnacho, who replaced Christian Eriksen on the hour mark, was very impressive.
“I thought Manchester City were just very efficient,” Wright told ITV Football after City won a seventh FA Cup trophy.
“I thought we would see more from Manchester United. They improved after Garnacho came on and he definitely should have started the game for me. He proved he had a little bit more thrust about him.
“Other than that, Manchester City were in total control really. It was quite tepid from United in the end.”
