France defender Raphael Varane has said Le Blues has enough experience not to fall into the trap of underestimating the Atlas Lions of Morocco.
France face Morocco in the semifinals of the Qatar 2022 World Cup on December 14 after seeing off England in the quarterfinals.
Morocco booked the clash with France after knocking out Spain in the second round and Portugal in the quarterfinals.
Speaking ahead of the France Vs Morocco clash, Varane was quoted by AFP as saying, “We have enough experience in the team to not fall into that trap.
“We know Morocco are not here by chance. It is up to us experienced players to make sure everyone is prepared for another battle.”
Despite France reaching the semifinals, a target set by the country’s football federation, Varane still believes the team is hungry for a spot in the final against Argentina or Croatia.
“It is not easy to get to a World Cup semi-final so we are very pleased, but the only real objective is to win it,” he said. “That was always the aim.”
Also speaking, fellow defender, Jules Kounde, praised the Moroccan side for making history as the first African side to reach the last four of the World Cup.
“They are very compact, with lines that are close together, and they leave little time for the player on the ball to organise himself,” said Barcelona right-back Kounde.
“They also run really fast, so we’ll need to play with few touches, move the ball around quickly and try to unbalance them by moving from one side to the other.
“It is remarkable to have only conceded one goal at this stage of the competition, all the more so given the teams they have faced.”
