Jordan Henderson feels England’s men should be inspired by the Lionesses’ Euro 2022 triumph as they strive for World Cup gold in Qatar.
Sarina Wiegman’s team won England’s first major championship since the men’s World Cup in 1966, defeating Germany 2-1 in extra time in July.
Gareth Southgate’s Three Lions reached the semi-finals of Russia 2018 before falling to Italy in a penalty shootout in the Euro 2020 final.
Henderson was picked to England’s 26-man squad, which will try to go one step further in Qatar, and the midfielder cited Wiegman’s women’s triumph as an inspiration.

“The Lionesses have done a fantastic job and the whole country was behind them,” Henderson told the BBC.
“Hopefully we can take inspiration from that and perform like they did. If we do that then I’m sure we’ll have a good tournament.”
The Liverpool captain is anticipated to play a supporting role in Southgate’s midfield, with Jude Bellingham, Kalvin Phillips, and Declan Rice among the likely starters.
Henderson, a Premier League and Champions League winner with Liverpool, will provide much-needed experience.
England will require such expertise if they are to advance further in the Middle East, where they are the only European team to have reached at least the semi-finals in each of the last two major events.

Southgate’s team kicks up their Group B campaign against Iran on Monday, followed by matches against the United States and Wales.
