Liverpool manager, Jurgen Klopp, has revealed how his side intend to stop Erling Haaland when they face Manchester City in the Premier League.
According to the German, his side will ensure that the Norwegian doesn’t get too many balls.
He, however. stated that focusing on Haaland alone will enable other City players to find space to penetrate his defence.
“When you play against the best striker in the world, you have to make sure he doesn’t get many balls. That’s the challenge with him. That’s what we will try.
“Against City, if you close Haaland down with too many players, you open up gaps for the other world class players. It won’t make life easier but that’s a football problem and we try to find solutions,” Klopp told reporters on Friday.
Meanwhile, City manager, Pep Guardiola, has said Lverpool are his club’s biggest challengers when it comes to the Premier League title.
“Always have been, always, will be,” Guardiola said. “I know the quality they have. If you asked this question with 10 games left I would say I don’t think they can catch the top of the league, and in that case Arsenal, but now anything can happen.”
He added: “I ignore that are they in a good moment or bad moment. Always I analyse the team and I expect the best from them. Nothing can change the opinion I have about them. I know the quality they have, the character, 10 games left maybe they cannot catch us, but being in that position, anything can happen.”
