Following his team’s 1-0 Europa League loss to Manchester United, Omonia Nicosia goalkeeper Francis Uzoho gave a dazzling interview.
Scott McTominay’s injury-time winner gave United a crucial Group E victory, but it wasn’t without difficulty.
After number one Fabiano was hurt earlier in the week, Uzoho started the game. Uzoho put on an incredible performance against his boyhood team by recording 12 saves.
The 23-year-old was clearly excited as he spoke to BT Sport at full time.
Uzoho was excited to play at Old Trafford for the first time in his career, despite having a point abruptly taken away.
Uzoho responded when asked if he was disappointed with the outcome: “I am not disappointed because we had a good game.
“I would’ve preferred to get at least a point, but I’m happy because it’s not an easy stadium to play in with these big players. I’m happy in general!”
The Nigerian international grinned broadly and responded, when asked if he supported Manchester United: “Yeah, yeah! It’s a dream come true for me. I have dreamed to play here for a long time.
“When I saw the draw and figured I would be playing at Old Trafford, I wanted to play and I prayed to God to get an opportunity to play. I got it and I’m happy I played here.”
In the first half, Marcus Rashford, Cristiano Ronaldo, and Casemiro were all stopped by Uzoho, despite the former taking a staggering 10 shots.
He agreed it was the best performance of his career, before continuing: “I am proud of my teammates because it was not a one man job.
“We gave everything out there as a team on the field. I am happy with my performance.”
United must win their final two games against FC Sheriff and Real Sociedad to top the group and avoid being relegated from the Champions League.
In his post-game interview, McTominay praised Uzoho and said he was “different class.”
The midfielder said: “You have to be patient sometimes. Marcus [Rashford] had so many chances and he did everything but score.
“Their goalkeeper was a different class but we created enough chances and deserved to score in the end.”
United return to action on Sunday afternoon against Newcastle United.
