David Beckham, a former player for Manchester United and England, has written a tribute to Queen Elizabeth II, expressing his “true sadness” over the news of her passing as the world continues to mourn her passing.
The six-time Premier League champion wrote in a moving Instagram post that not only the British but people from all over the world were devastated by the news.
The 47-year-old has had several encounters with the Queen and was given an OBE in 2003 on the occasion of the Queen’s Birthday for his contributions to football.
He claimed that everyone could take inspiration from Her Majesty.
I’m truly saddened by the death of Her Majesty, The Queen. What an outpouring of love and respect we saw for the Platinum Jubilee for her life of service. How devastated we all feel today shows what she has meant to people in this country and around the world. How much she inspired us with her leadership. How she comforted us when times were tough. Until her last days she served her country with dignity and grace. This year she would have known how loved she was. My thoughts and prayers are with our Royal Family…
