Rivers United defeated Doma United 2-0 in a rescheduled Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) fixture on Thursday, extending their lead at the top of Group B table.
The holders took the lead on 19 minutes through Nyima Nwagua following an assist from Onoja Joseph.
Liberia forward, Albert Korvah doubled the home team’s lead three minutes before the break.
Rivers United extended their lead at the top of the log to three points.
The Pride of Rivers will travel to Enugu for their final game of the regular season against Rangers on Sunday.
Doma United remain in third position but now face a daunting task in their bid to qualify for the NPFL Super Six.
The Savannah Tigers will be away to fifth-placed Abia Warriors, who are also in the hunt for the Super Six ticket on Sunday.
