Pablo Longoria, Marseille’s president, has stated that Cristiano Ronaldo won’t be joining the club this summer.
The Portuguese forward has been linked with a move away from Manchester United after the club failed to qualify for the Champions League this season.
He has been linked with moves all over Europe, with Chelsea’s interest in the 37-year-old being cooled behind the scenes by Thomas Tuchel, Atletico Madrid, and Bayern Munich publicly opposing such a move.
In recent weeks, Ronaldo has been linked with a move to Ligue 1 rivals Marseille – the bitter rivals of Lionel Messi’s PSG – but Longoria insists he will not be leaving this summer.
“It’s the social media world full of fake news. We want reality. Ronaldo deal is not for us,” Longoria said.
“It’d be like saying that De Bruyne or Haaland are OM targets. Let’s focus on our real project.”
Ronaldo has also been linked with a return to former club Sporting CP, who have been drawn in the group stage of this season’s Champions League alongside Marseille, Tottenham Hotspur, and Eintracht Frankfurt.
