In an emotional social media post, Pele’s daughter and her father cherish “one more night together” as their medical treatment continues in the hospital.
The 82-year-old patient was admitted to the hospital last month after fighting colon cancer for more than a year.
The three-time World Cup champion received messages of encouragement from all corners of the sporting world, including from current Brazil talisman Neymar.
Pele’s daughter Kely Nascimento, who has been updating the public on her father’s condition while he has been in the hospital, posted a touching picture of the two hugging on Friday.
Sharing the post on Instagram, the caption read: “We continue to be here, in fight and in faith. One more night together.”
She had previously stated that Pele would remain in the hospital over the holiday season, saying: “We decided with doctors that, for many reasons, it will be best for us to stay here, with all the care that this new family at Einstein gives us.
“We will even make some caipirinhas (no kidding). We love you and we will give up an update next week.”
