Chelsea boss, Mauricio Pochettino and his Tottenham counterpart, Ange Postecoglou, have agreed on dislike for the video assistant referee, VAR.
There were some controversial decisions, as always with VAR, during Chelsea”s 4-1 win over Tottenham in the Premier League on Monday night.
One thing that was of a major concern for Pochettino and Ange is the time being wasted in checking of incidents during games
There were some of those occasions when the match was stopped during the Monday night London derby and Tottenham boss Ange Postecoglou, frowned at the delay in decision making by VAR, especially when two of his players were sent off.
“I’m old school and from a bygone era. I like the purity of the game. I want my team to play high energy, relentless attacking football,” the Tottenham boss said.
“If we get a red card, we cop it and we keep going. Instead we’re all just standing around waiting for decisions. I’m just an old man shouting at the clouds though.”
And speaking with reporters after the game Pochettino said, “I agree with him. When I was here they started to implement the VAR and I said I didn’t like it but we had to support it.
“Now we’re seeing things that are difficult to see. Today we played 110, 120 minutes I don’t know, is it 1am in the morning now?”
