Michael Owen has predicted that Liverpool will ‘blow Real Madrid away’ in the Champions League final.
Real Madrid will meet Liverpool in a rematch of the 2017/18 Champions League final, which Real Madrid won 3-1.
Owen, a former Liverpool and Real player, feels the outcome will be the opposite of that night in Kiev, Ukraine.
When the two teams meet in Paris on Saturday, he expects Jurgen Klopp’s side to ‘connivingly’ beat Carlo Ancelotti’s side ‘3-1 or 3-0.’
“I think Liverpool are better than Madrid and they could blow them away. 3-1 or 3-0 is my prediction,” he told Sportsmail.
“I think they could beat them reasonably convincingly because they are an exceptional team at the minute and are too good for Madrid.”
The La Liga winners defeated Paris Saint-Germain, Chelsea, and Manchester City to go to yet another European final.
Owen appreciates their great run, but believes Liverpool, with their history in the competition, will be able to manage the magnitude of the game.
“Madrid have just done phenomenally well to get to the final,” he added.
“I’m sure they believe their name is on the title what with scrapping through the group stage and then of course Chelsea was incredible how they got through that. Manchester City was just mind-blowing how they beat them as well.
“But I think Liverpool are so experienced and so good. They won’t want to get into a grind with them because I think Madrid are the ultimate team when it comes to know-how and winning close games.”
Liverpool has advanced to their third Champions League final in five years after defeating Inter Milan, Benfica, and Villarreal.
They’re aiming for their seventh European crown, with Klopp aiming for his second with the Reds.
