After leading the Lionesses to an incredible victory at Euro 2022, Sarina Wiegman, the coach of the England women, has been projected to manage in the Premier League.
England won the competition on home soil, defeating Germany 2-1 in overtime in the championship game at Wembley Stadium.
A record-breaking 87,000 people showed up for the Euros game, and 17.4 million people watched it on television across the nation as Chloe Kelly, a substitute, scored the game-winning goal.
After winning the World Cup in 1966, England finally won a major trophy, putting an end to 56 years of suffering.
Given that Wiegman, 52, led her native Netherlands to the same trophy five years prior and repeated the feat just ten months into her tenure with England, her managerial skills throughout the victory have not gone unnoticed.
She has the skills to lead at the top level in men’s soccer, according to former England striker Darren Bent, who is also endorsing Chelsea women’s manager Emma Hayes for a historic position.
“One hundred per cent,” Bent replied to a caller on talkSPORT when asked if Weigman was capable of managing in the Championship or Premier League.
“In some capacity at some stage, she will do. And not just her. People have spoke about Emma Hayes. If we keep seeing the emergence of the women’s game going the way it is – and obviously we’ve just seen England win the Euros, she’s going to get an opportunity at some stage.”
