Tiemoue Bakayoko, a Chelsea midfielder, was stopped at gunpoint by police in Italy, according to the Daily Mail.
According to reports, the incident happened on July 3 in the Porta Garibaldi neighbourhood of Milan.
Following a shootout between two gangs, police set up a roadblock, and Bakayoko was stopped and searched at the checkpoint in a terrifying ordeal.
Bakayoko, who spent last season on loan at Italian giants Milan, is seen on video being restrained by an officer and pushed against the side of a police car at gunpoint. He is then searched before the officer in question realises his error.
The officer appears to empty Bakayoko’s pockets and place the contents on the roof of the police car, before two other officers, both with their guns drawn, point towards his car, which was being watched by another cop.
And the video footage ends just as the cops appear to realise they’ve made a mistake, possibly after Bakayoko explained who he was to clarify that this was a case of mistaken identity.
Bakayoko was born in Paris and began playing for the Paris 15e Olympique when he was five years old. He began his career at the age of nine with CA Paris Charenton before moving on to Montrouge FC 92.
Bakayoko suffered a broken leg as a young player, which prevented him from playing football for eight months.
He enrolled in the Rennes Academy at the age of 13 in 2008. At the age of 14, he was rejected by the prestigious Clairefontaine academy.
On 15 July 2017, Bakayoko left Monaco and signed a five-year contract with Chelsea for around £40 million, making him the club’s second most expensive signing after Fernando Torres.
Bakayoko struggled in his debut season. Fans and pundits alike chastised him for his performances, particularly against Watford, where he was sent off after only 30 minutes.
Two of his worst performances were a 3-0 away defeat by Newcastle United on the final day of the Premier League season.
