Chelsea have made an approach to re-sign their former player Tino Livramento from Southampton.
The west London side sold Livramento to Southampton in an £5 million deal in 2021, although Chelsea included a £50m buyback option which became active this year.
Apart from Chelsea, Newcastle United also interested in signing the 20-year-old defender this summer but their initial offer of £12m and their improved bid of £21m have both been rejected.
MailOnline reports that Southampton are holding out for a £38m fee for Livramento and Chelsea have now held discussions over a move for their former right-back.
The report claims that as part of the deal, Chelsea would allow Southampton to keep Livramento on loan for their upcoming season in the Championship.
Livramento had not made a first-team appearance for Chelsea before joining Southampton but was highly rated in their academy.
After his move to St Mary’s, Livramento quickly became one of Southampton’s standout performers before he suffered an ACL injury in April last year which kept him on the sidelines for 13 months.
He made his return as a late substitute in Southampton’s final two Premier League games last season.
