Ten Hag wants Manchester United to part ways with the club legend because he is tired of the Ronaldo saga.
According to recent reports, Ronaldo can save his career at Manchester United and his relationship with Ten Hag by expressing “genuine contrition” for his conduct against Tottenham. Before the final whistle at Old Trafford, the Portuguese got up from the substitutes’ bench and walked toward the tunnel.
Ronaldo believes he belongs in Ten Hag’s starting lineup, so he is unlikely to apologize for his actions. This opens the door for him to leave Manchester United during the January transfer window.
The Search For Cristiano Ronaldo’s Replacement
Ivan Toney of Brentford and Joao Felix of Atletico Madrid have both been mentioned as potential striker replacements for the Red Devils.
Although Toney might still be a target, it appears that Ten Hag is steering the team away from signing Felix. The Daily Mirror claims that the manager prefers a more conventional number nine to a smaller forward like Felix who can fill a variety of attacking roles.
Ten Hag may have been inspired by Erling Haaland’s success at Manchester City and desired his own towering goal machine.
Ten Hag has come up with a list of three goal scorers, with Schick of Leverkusen at the top. The 26-year-old made his name known by scoring five goals for the Czech Republic during Euro 2020. As a result, he shared the tournament-scoring lead with Ronaldo, the player he might replace at Manchester United.
Schick continued his outstanding play last season by scoring 24 goals in just 27 Bundesliga games. In the competition, only Robert Lewandowski scored more goals than he did.
