Liverpool must now fight to keep their star man, Mohamed Salah, at the club beyond this summer.
Merseyside reporter, Neil Jones, said that the club is aware of the reported interest from Saudi Arabia.
Pro League side Al Ittihad are said to be ready to table an offer to make Salah one of the highest-paid players in the Middle East.
The Egyptian, according to the report, may even earn more than Cristiano Ronaldo, who is currently the highest paid sportsman.
Jones, however, claimed that there is no official bid on the table yet.
And suggestions are that Liverpool plan to resist any offers should they arrive.
TalkSPORT’s Saudi Arabia football correspondent Ben Jacobs, added, “Al-Ittihad are exploring an ambitious late-window move for Mo Salah with a view to having him play in the 2023 Club World Cup in Jeddah,” he reports.
“Saudi champions originally had Salah as a 2024 target only. Dealmakers refer to ‘growing optimism’ of a shock move, but Salah’s agent is on-record this month saying his client committed to Liverpool.
“Salah has been offered a three-year deal with the promise of making him one of the best-paid players in the Saudi Pro League. Base wage being prepared is £65m with other earning opportunities on top.
“Nothing has been agreed with the player just yet. Liverpool have been clear of all the windows they don’t wish to sell. It’s going to take a massive offer [and change of heart] to potentially change that.
“This is a key point. Liverpool have always said they don’t want to sell and can thus control what happens next.
“For anything to progress the club would need to dramatically change their position with just a week left of the window.
