Zaidu Sanusi, a defender from Nigeria, has agreed to a new two-year deal with FC Porto of Portugal.
In 2020, the left-back joined the Dragons from Santa Clara, another Portuguese team, and has since cemented his position as a vital cog in the team.
Sanusi’s pivotal goal gave FC Porto their 30th league championship last year.
This summer, there were rumours that the 25-year-old would leave the team, but Porto’s high asking price scared off any suitors.
“I am very happy to have renewed my contract with FC Porto until 2027. It is very important for me,” Sanusi told the club’s official website.
The defender was on target as Porto defeated Bundesliga club, Bayer Leverkusen 2-0 to record their first win in the UEFA Champions League this season on Tuesday.
The 25-year-old Nigerian international reflected on the strike and its importance.
“It was a very important goal for me, for the club, for the president and it made me very happy. I am even more fulfilled for having renewed today.
“I hope to score many more goals and celebrate even more victories here,” he said.
