Newcastle manager, Eddie Howe, has lamented the penalty decision that saw his side give up their 1-0 lead to draw 1-1 with Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League on Tuesday night.
The Group F is still open with only Borussia Dortmund’s qualification confirmed.
AC Milan, Newcastle United and Paris Saint-Germain still have the chance to qualify from the group depending on the outcome of the final group games.
Just two points separates all three teams heading into the final group games and Howe was heading for a better position but for Kylian Mbappe’s late equaliser.
With eight minutes to the end of the match, Ousmane Dembele’s cross appeared to strike Tino Livramento’s body and the ball rolled up onto his arm.
Referee Szymon Marciniak reviewed the incident on the pitchside monitor and pointed to the spot which Kylian Mbappe duly despatched to secure a 1-1 draw.
A deflated Howe was asked about PSG’s controversial penalty in injury time.
“I don’t think that was a penalty. We know that when it hits a body part first and his hands are low, it’s not a penalty,” he told TNT.
“I feel really flat, but pleased with what the players have given.
“I feel it’s a poor decision.
“I think I have to control myself. It doesn’t do any good to lose control of what you think and what you say.”
