The Uefa Europa League went down on Thursday night as Italian Seria A side AS Roma made a trip to Norway where they face Bodo/Glimt.
While the Italian side led by former Chelsea coach Jose Mourinho headed to the game with full confidence of winning all three points, they, however, were faced with an embarrassing defeat with the match ending in a 6-1 scoreline to the Norwegian side.
Mourinho, while reacting to the defeat, stressed that there were “limitations”, as he only had 13 players of real quality.
This comes after the Portugal international made changes to his starting XI as the game became the first time he would concede six goals in one game.
“I decided to play with this line-up, so the responsibility is mine.
“I did it with good intentions, to give an opportunity to those who work hard and to rotate the squad on a synthetic pitch in cold weather. I decided to rest many players.
“We lost against a team that showed more quality on the night. It’s that simple.
“If I could always play with the same XI, then I would. It’s risky, because we have a huge gap in quality between the two groups of players,” Mourinho told Sky Italia.
