Manchester United midfielder, Christian Eriksen, has said his son helped him to pick the number 14 jersey when he joined the Premier League side.
Eriksen had previously worn jersey number eight through the majority of his time at his first professional club Ajax, and the no.23 during his six-and-a-half years at Tottenham.
However, when he joined United, both numbers were not available as they were already taken by Bruno Fernandes and Luke Shaw respectively.
Eriksen still had the option of 21 and 24 which he wore at Brentford and Inter Milan respectively. However, he opted for number 14.
“I didn’t pick it, my son picked it!” he said during a question and answer with fans.
“We had a few options, a few numbers and I wrote him a list of the numbers available, and he picked number 14.”
The midfielder then went on to speak about the comfort he and his family have felt since making the move to Manchester.
“It’s been good, I’ve only been here a few months, but it already feels like I’ve been here a lot longer, which is positive,” the 30-year-old explained.
“Then you know that you feel at home straight away, which I and my family have done.
“So, I think we are settling in, getting to know everyone, the football style and how people are,” he continued.
“It’s been a nice first few months.”
