Deontay Wilder has now surpassed Anthony Joshua to take the top spot in Ring Magazine’s list of the ten best heavyweights.
Following Wilder’s comeback, this month, the famed publication and its team of boxing writers have updated their list once again.
Ring has decided that the American’s impressive knockout of Robert Helenius on his comeback justifies him passing Joshua in the rankings.
One notable omission from the list is Tyson Fury.
Despite being widely regarded as the best boxer in the weight class, the WBC heavyweight world champion is not currently listed among the top ten.
This occurred because Fury renounced the Ring Magazine heavyweight title while asserting his retirement in August.
As a result, Usyk vs. Joshua II had the Ring’s championship on the line, and the Ukrainian triumphed by split decision.
Despite the fact that Fury will fight Derek Chisora on December 3 and has now confirmed rumors that he isn’t really retired after all, Ring has not yet made the decision to rerank him.
This seems unlikely to occur until his next fight, which will air live on talkSPORT on December 3.
