Jussie Smollett’s assault case to appear before grand jury next week

News reports have it that Jussie Smollett’s alleged homophobic attack will be appearing before a grand jury in the coming week.

TMZ reports that the Nigerian brothers who have been declared persons of interest in the case are currently living under surveillance by the police, somewhere in Chicago.

According to the reports, the police are doing their best to keep the suspects from being contacted.

TMZ reports also revealed that suspicious items such as torn magazine papers which are suspected to have been used in sending threatening to Smollett at Fox’s Chicago office, were recovered during a search of the suspect’s home.

Sources are also reported to have revealed to TMZ that the brothers are also suspected to have purchased the rope which was tied around Smollett’s neck during the attack, however, there is no surveillance footage from the hardware store where it is suspected to have been purchased as the footage erases weekly.

That being said, sources have also disclosed that the police seem to have been finding red flags in the case, causing suspicions that Smollett may have masterminded his own attack for reasons best known to him.

For example, the police have expressed surprise over the fact that the “Empire” star was able to point out the camera located at the scene of the crime during a visit by Smollett and the police.

These new developments come barely a week after the Chicago PD revealed that they had found two Nigerian brothers, later identified to be extras on the “Empire” cast, to be persons of interest in the case.

The police also revealed that during a search of their apartment, suspicious items such as bleach was recovered.

Recall that in the last four weeks since Smollett’s attack, the star actor has been hospitalised but proved his resilience in the face of what is being described as a homophobic attack.
