Nigerian comedian Basketmouth has corrected the misconception people have about him and Grammy singer, Wizkid after the singer shaded him.
Kemi Filani reported that Wizkid started the year with violence as he dragged his colleague, Davido. In one of his outbursts, the ‘Ojuelegba’ hitmaker threw shade at Basketmouth as he said that Bobo, Davido’s ex-lawyer and childhood friend, always follows him around dressed like the comedian.
In response to Wizkid’s comment, Basketmouth shared a video of himself at Billionaire fashion designer, Seyi Vodi’s clothing store in Abuja. He was seen checking out some collection of outfits, gushing over himself as he wore a matching black shirt and trousers. He questioned if his outfit choice works for Wizkid.
Taking to his comment section, a fan stated that he doesn’t believe Wizkid was trying to shade him. He explained that he believed the singer was trying to clown Davido’s lawyer for dressing like a comedian and not being professional.
“My brother, I don’t think Wizkid was throwing shades at you. I think he was saying a lawyer dressing like you, a comedian, is not professional. In my life, I have never seen a lawyer tinting hair and beards before, entertainers are allowed to rock any look”.
Replying to him, Basketmouth stated that he knew Wizkid wasn’t shading him as he claimed that the singer was his guy. He also explained that he was catching the cruise with the misconception most people have about it and using it to promote his new movie.
“Oh! Of course I know, na. He’s my guy 💯 but I have a movie to promote. So why not catch some cruise with the misconception most people had about it?”.
Recall that in June, when Wizkid threw shades at Davido over his wedding to Chioma by offering a prayer to understanding women, Basketmouth had weighed into it.
Basketmouth noted how Davido’s wedding has taken over the social media space, to the extent that no one cared about Wizkid’s shady post. His comment didn’t sit well with many who criticized him, and reacting to it, Basketmouth reposted a fan’s comment on his post where he defended the comedian, noting how Basketmouth is a comedian and, as such, was just making a frivolous post. He questioned why people were taking it to heart as he believes even Wizkid would laugh over the post.
