Nigerian celebrity hair gùru Chioma Ikokwu, better known as Chioma Good Hair, has sent a message to a fan against marriage pressure.
While responding to a fan on Snapchat, Chioma admonished her not to pressure her into marriage, noting how she still had time despite being in her 30s. Chioma explained that her being unmarried right now isn’t by circumstance but by choice, as she stated that she wouldn’t settle because everyone’s walking down the aisle, and some are getting divorced six months later.
“I know you mean well, but I don’t like messages like this, Rama. Don’t put pressure on me, please. It’s too late, lol. With all the technology in the world, stop it!
Plus, I’m in my 30s, I’ve got time!
We are not in 1885 anymore
And I promise you that I’m not married right now. It’s not by circumstance. It’s by choice. I’m not going to settle because everyone’s walking down the aisle, and some are getting divorced six months later. Please, God’s timing is everything. I’ll do it right.
Love you though because I know you mean well”.
In another post, Chioma revealed that anyone who would’ve married her before 30 would have cried because she wasn’t ready. She stated that she still wants to travel the world, grow in her career, and be free.
She added that she is satisfied now, and though she might be ready, she isn’t desperate.
“Tbh, anyone that would’ve married me before 30 would’ve cried because I truly wasn’t ready. I still wanted to travel the world, grow in my career and be free. Am I satisfied now – yes! Am I ready now? Yes! Am I desperate – absolutely if not!
Some people have been ready since they were 16 years old—that’s all good. That wasn’t me. “

Similarly, Funke replied a Twitter user who advised her to get remarried, pointing out how the filmmaker is getting old. Funke responded by appreciating him for the advice, noting how he was the wedding planner.
In an Instagram post, upcoming actress Sarah Martins questioned why women shame others for being unmarried. She noted how she was on set hustling when a troll decided to shame her. Sarah admonished women to do better.
Elsie Okpocha, the ex-wife of comedian Basketmouth, also issued a statement to marriage-shamers. She cautioned them against shaming unmarried women, noting how ladies and women get shamed for late marriages and late childbirth. The divorcee revealed that marriage isn’t easy, as it requires hard work, despite being beautiful.
