Stella Maris Okafor, the widowed wife of Late Nollywood actor John Okafor, better known as Mr Ibu, has penned a heartfelt note to the public following the burial of her husband.
Taking to her Instagram page, she noted how today, July 12th, makes it two weeks since she laid her beloved husband to rest. She described the past weeks as a challenging one for her and her family.
She stated that from the moment her husband’s illness began, it was a difficult journey filled with numerous hospital visits, and as the condition worsened, they faced countless sleepless nights, hoping and praying for a miracle.
Stella added that the love and laughter he brought into their lives were replaced by an overwhelming sense of fear and uncertainty, and despite their best efforts and the dedication of the medical team, they lost him to the cold hands of death.
She noted how, during the trying times, the support they received from generous and compassionate individuals provided them the strength to continue. She noted how the outpouring of donations and encouragement from Nigerians were remarkable, helping them manage medical expenses and cope with the emotional strain.
Stella Maris went on to pen an appreciation post to Peter Obi, Enugu State government and the governor, Commissioner of Tourism Enugu, Actors Guild of Nigeria and more for their support to her and her family.

Kemi Filani reported in March that the veteran actor, who had battled for his life for months, had kicked the bucket. The news was made known by a healthcare worker, where the actor was said to have kicked his last bucket. The president of the Actors Guild of Nigeria, Emeka Rollas, later confirmed the news as he revealed he died of Cardiac Arrest. His death threw the industry into mourning as he was the beloved of many and had made our childhood memorable.
On Wednesday, June 26th, a night of tribute was held for the late actor, which had in attendance many of his colleagues. On June 27th, the veteran actor was buried in his hometown of Enugu State.
Making a first statement, Stella Maris revealed that she felt so bad and shed tears on Father’s Day when she remembered her late husband. Speaking on the Nollywood industry, she stated that they had supported her and her children since the actor passed and have been good to them.
