The memories of protesters killed at the Lekki toll gate on the 20th of October 2020 will continue to linger on in the heart of Nigerians, especially families whose loved ones have become “heroes”.
Truly, the 20th of October will be remembered for so many things; however, the flashes of raising a Nigerian flag high and still being killed will be relayed to generations unborn.
Peaceful demonstrators came out in large numbers to commemorate the second anniversary of our “heroes” who lost their lives in the cause of demanding better governance and putting an end to police brutality. Tega Dominic tags Lekki toll gate a cemetery
Reality TV star, Tega Dominic has tagged the Lekki toll gate as a cemetery. According to her, whoever gave the order to shoot peaceful protesters in 2020 has no justification for it. She also noted that the Nigerian Police Force has no reason whatsoever to disperse demonstrators during the peaceful walk to remember the casualties of the EndSARS protest.
She wrote: “Falz gave a brief, people were peaceful, singing solidarity songs, all they did was to drop the coffin by the toll gate. As far as I am concerned that place is a cemetery. It was a peaceful walk for our brothers and sisters that died at that same toll gate, that an order was given to be shot at.
“Why would you even give an order for people who are not destroying things? Walking on their own in the cemetery to be shot at? We are still asking questions and you are still showing the same traits. Cowards, are Nigerian youths so powerful that we give you all sleepless nights? Total disgrace.
“Show of power but yet the country if flooded. Show of power yet no good health care system. Show of power yet so much insecurity insecurity in the country. You should be ashamed of yourselves.
Police fire tear gas on observers at Lekki toll gate
Kemi Filani news reported that the Nigerian Police have fired teargas to disperse peaceful protesters and observers at the Lekki toll gate in Lagos for the second anniversary of the #EndSARS protest.
The protesters placed coffins on their heads, which they made in remembrance of those who allegedly died in the October 20, 2020 incident before police fired teargas canisters. The act has caused gridlock at the toll gate.
