Nollywood actress Opeyemi Aiyeola has opened up about how she blocked her colleagues in the industry.
In an interview on Oyinmomo TV, Opeyemi recalled how she met her husband, Olayiwola Abdulwakilu, during the peak of her career and gave it up to start a family with him in London. She noted how she went off scene for over ten years because she held her marriage in high esteem.
Aiyeola noted how people say practitioners don’t have homes or stable lives, but they don’t know what happens behind those relationships. Opeyemi said the fear of divorce made her block everyone in the industry.
She said that when she finally got herself back, she questioned who she had offended and told her husband it was time to focus on her career. Opeyemi revealed that she has two boys who know she loves them, and she knows she has given her family enough, and it was time to carve out her own career.
“When his name rose, he came to me. I didn’t know the charm he used. He carried me abroad, and I was a lover girl, too. That’s how I found myself in London. It seems like he added honey. Epe people are good with skills, and you will fall for their tricks.
I was off the scene for over ten years and apologise to my fans. I held my marriage in high esteem, so I blocked everybody’s number in the industry. Let’s appreciate our fans; they’re the cause. Some say practitioners don’t have homes or stable lives, but don’t know what happens behind those relationships. I didn’t want my case to be like that, so I blocked everyone from the industry for ten years.
I sincerely didn’t understand how I ended up blocking everybody, and I use my hands to unblock everybody.
When I finally got myself back, I asked myself, “What happened? Who did I offend? “So I pleaded with myself, “Let me focus on my career. “I have two boys, and they know that I love them. I’ve given them everything—every style, every bit of love, every sacrifice. I have given them enough; they should allow me to carve my own career. “
The actress tied the knot with her husband in 2007. The union is blessed with two children.
Recall that in 2022, Opeyemi had revealed the challenges she faced in her marriage and how she was able to overcome them. She shared a picture of her family while admitting that there were moments of “disagreement and huge fights” that almost threatened her marriage. She, however, stated that despite the imperfections, she and her husband have been able to stick together.
In 2023, Opeyemi returned to social media to celebrate the success of her son, who had graduated from high school. The proud mother noted that she had been off Instagram and was retiring with a smile and a heart of gratitude.
In other news, Opeyemi had advised those in relationships, telling them not to go into any relationship with just their heart and soul. She admonished them to go with their brain, as she stated that it is important not to allow the spirit of jagbajantis to manipulate their brain.
The movie star had shared some relationship tips with her fans who are still looking for love. According to the mother of two, genuine love still exists out there but one has to be patient enough to be blessed with one.
