Legendary Nollywood actor, Pete Edochie has spoken out on his feelings and love for May Edochie, the wife of his son, Yul Edochie.
In an interview with Chude Jideonwo, Pete gave her ‘her flowers’, as he credited the success of May and Yul’s 18-year marriage to her.
He described May as not just his daughter-in-law, but his beloved as he technically stated that he loves her more than the other wives of his sons.
Singing her praises, he noted how many underestimate May, who he described as exceptionally brilliant and a computer wizard.
He declared that the success of their marriage is to May’s credit as she is a wonderful person.
Unfortunately, things happen between his son and her, and she finds it hard to convince her that he wasn’t part of it.
“Mary is not just a daughter-in-law. I don’t want to say that I love Mary more than the other wives of my sons but the love I have for Mary is so strong, why? The father and I were very close. Yes and when we went for the traditional marriage rites in their place, the kind of reception their people have me, I will never forget. Mary is a girl I love to the narrow. By the way, she is a wonderful person. Mary is a very brilliant girl. You may not know that. Mary is a computer wizard, that lady you’re looking at right, and to a very large extent, the success of that home is to Mary’s credit, yeah. But again you know things like this happen and it’s so difficult to convince her that you’re not part of it. You know Mary is a wonderful person. In fact, I just had my 76th birthday and the message she put out was so endearing. Mary is a wonderful woman”.
Pete Edochie speaks on Yul Edochie’s affair with Judy Austin
Speaking on Yul Edochie’s affair with Judy Austin, he affirmed that he was never aware that Yul had taken a second wife.
Addressing the issue in Igbo parables, he said “Since Yul has decided to bring in a foreign and infested woman into the family, he has invited all the lows, backwardness, pain, insults and so on in this life
He who goes to the farm and gets ants-infested firewoods (amongst all the good firewoods in the farm) shouldn’t be surprised when Lizards start paying him a visit (like lizards disturbing nah).
He made it known that he never knew Yul had taken a second wife.
“There is one thing you must know about me. I don’t lie, it’s not necessary. God created me so well, if I tell you this thing is back, it is black. You know, it’s like when he wanted to run for governor or something. When I saw his photograph, I thought it was introduction they were doing. There was someone who called me and said do you know something? Yul is running for governor and I said he must be crãzy, how? I never heard it. I have 5 sons, I don’t interfere with their lives you know. If they say daddy, so and so thing is happening, good. If they don’t tell me, I don’t bother. If they tell me, beautiful. We just heard of it and that’s it”.
It is no longer news that May has officially filed for divorce from Yul and is seeking N100 million as damages from his second wife, Judy Austin for adultery.
She has also filed restraining order against him, stopping him from accessing their former matrimonial home.
The court case is still ongoing, as according to reports, Yul is dodging the lawsuit.
