With a thrilling 2-1 victory at West Ham, Michael Olise curled home the winning goal as Crystal Palace finally won on the road for the first time.
With a scorching shot, Said Benrahma gave West Ham the lead before Wilfried Zaha pulled Palace even just before halftime.
What happened in the game?
Ten minutes from the end, after being pulled down by Marc Guehi, Michail Antonio was given a penalty by referee Paul Tierney, who then reversed his call after consulting the pitchside monitor.
Instead, with time running out, Antonio wastefully chipped a cross into Palace goalie Vicente Guaita’s arms, and the visitors quickly broke through at the other end and scored.
As a result, West Ham’s home winning streak of six games came to an end, and Palace earned their first Premier League victory on the road this year.
Benrahma picked up the ball from a distance of 25 yards, and West Ham, who had been outplayed for the whole of the game, won with flair.
Only making his sixth Premier League start of the year, the Algerian winger brushed off Jordan Ayew before launching an unstoppable drive past Guaita.
It was a beautiful strike, but five minutes before halftime, the West Ham defense ruined all of his hard work.
There was no threat when the ball was passed from Lukasz Fabianski to Craig Dawson, who then sent it to Thilo Kehrer on the right wing.
But Eberechi Eze was able to steal the ball from the Germany international, and Zaha then outmuscled Dawson to slam the ball past Fabianski.
At the beginning of the second half, Palace posed by far the larger threat as Eze and Olise both curled efforts just wide.
The crowd was growing increasingly frustrated, and when David Moyes made a double replacement on the hour, his choice to substitute Tomas Soucek for the struggling Benrahma was heartily applauded.
The home team made a slight improvement, as Kehrer headed Jarrod Bowen’s corner straight at Guaita before Declan Rice flew over.
After turning Joachim Andersen on the halfway line with ten seconds left, Antonio masterfully bulldozed his way into the area.
Guehi appeared to have the tiniest hold on the striker’s shorts as Antonio raced by him before falling to the ground.
After a protracted VAR review, Tierney reviewed the replays and disallowed the spot-kick.
Later, in stoppage time, Guaita intercepted Antonio’s errant cross and launched a counterattack that resulted in Olise’s thrilling victory.
