Qatar 2022: World Cup group stage fixtures, draw, schedule, kick-off times

2022 FIFA prize money: How much will the winners earn? | Breakdown of World Cup teams and players in Qatar

As teams compete to unseat France as the new world champions, the 2022 World Cup has begun in Qatar.

The tournament is the first of its kind to be held in the Middle East, and this year’s favourites include Brazil, Argentina, England, and defending champion France.

Off-field issues have plagued the tournament’s preparation and actual play thus far as teams debate how best to criticise Qatar’s human rights record, treatment of migrant workers, and attitudes toward LGBTQ+ individuals.
