Trevor Sinclair, a former winger for Manchester City, has criticised United star and Portuguese international Cristiano Ronaldo, calling him a “disgraceful influence” as exit talks continue to linger.
Sinclair claims that Ronaldo, who is allegedly trying to secure a transfer away from Old Trafford, is now portraying himself as a bad influence on Manchester United’s young players.
The five-time Ballon d’Or winner requested permission to miss United’s pre-season tour for “personal reasons,” and he reiterated his decision to leave the club upon his return to England earlier this week.
KemiFilani reports that the Portuguese international hopes to sign with a Champions League team. To that end, he has been making the rounds lately. And Sinclair, who is a pundit on talkSPORT, has accused him of “spitting out his dummy” in order to get his way.
“For me, he’s not earned the right to be in the Champions League this year because his team’s not been good enough,” Sinclair explained on Friday’s talkSPORT Breakfast.
“You know, you talk about good influences on young players, he has been speaking about in that way. Well, this is a disgraceful way to influence young players.
“Spitting your dummy out, saying ‘I want this, I want that, the club doesn’t matter, it’s all about my records’…”
