Mabel Makun, the estranged wife of Nigerian comedian and actor Ayo Makun, better known as AY, has buried her mother, Mrs Rose Temietan Eyesan Nwanegbu.
Though the date of her mother’s death isn’t known, Mabel laid her mother to rest at the Garden Ikoyi, Lagos State. In videos on Media Room Hub, the former comedian’s wife was captured wearing black as her family and friends consoled her. The likes of singer, Flavour’s wife Sandra Okagbue, stylist Medlin Boss, Annia Idibia’s former manager Naomad Agency and Annie’s best friend, Stella Michaels showed support for her.
Noticeably absent at the ceremony was her estranged husband and the father of her two kids, Ayo Makun and his family.
This has caused reactions online with many slamming Ayo Makun for ignoring his estranged wife at her weak moment.

Recall that in April, 2023, AY confirmed the end of his almost 20-year relationship with Mabel, expressing regrets for losing his home, and also admitted to doing things that were compromising during the marriage.
He warned against projecting the wrong narrative about him and his family, which he found harmful to his teenage daughter, and hinted at the possible fault from his wife.
Mabel also broke her silence, stating that her dreams of a lifelong marriage had now taken a different direction and pleaded with the media and public to give them privacy as they navigate their new phase. She noted how many lies have been peddled against her, but she will honour her kids by not addressing them.
Last month, Blogger Stella Dimoko Korkus alleged that Mabel had denied AY all access to his second daughter. An insider told the blog that AY hadn’t reached his second daughter since Mabel left the marriage, so he had to cut through corners by contacting the child’s nanny to speak to his child.
The blogger claimed that Mabel walked in on AY talking to their daughter on the nanny’s phone and had sacked her immediately, and AY, after finding out what became of the nanny, offered her a job in his house. The insider further claimed that the war between the two is now so toxic that no one can intervene.
