Nollywood actor Damola Olatunji is the latest celebrity to speak on fake love in the movie industry.
In an interview with his colleague, Biola Bayo, on her show, Talk to B, he revealed that most of the attacks on celebrities are from the industry. According to him, most faceless trolls are their colleagues, who hide behind burner accounts to diminish others. He stated that he always pondered why actors are obsessed with unhealthy competition and bringing down another to elevate others. This led him to a thorough investigation, and he discovered that most of the attacks come from within the industry.
Elsewhere in the interview, he sent a message to upcoming actors and actresses, admonishing them to have a shock absorber. He noted how the movie industry lacks real love, as many pretend to love each other.
He said, “If you are coming into the space of the entertainment industry, you need to have what is called a shock absorber.
In an industry where there is no true love, where we don’t truly love each other, fine, we do parties, we do all these things, we gather together to celebrate, and we smile and laugh at each other, but deep down, we don’t love each other.
The pages that will troll you are faceless; I think they are from the industry. Why do we have this unhealthy competition? Why do you think if I bring this person down, I will rise? So, I took my time to do the analysis, and I can see that, okay, most of these attacks come from within, comes from the industry.
One thing I don’t do is I don’t compete with anybody. I try as much as possible to run my race at my own pace”.
Just a day back, Wumi Toriola made a similar statement as she threw shade at some of her colleagues for rubbishing her efforts. She revealed that someone called her a YouTube star, and her stubbornness made her take it with so much pride. Wumi noted how some of her colleagues are yet to conquer YouTube and are still floating in the box office world, yet would rubbish others with fake pages.
