Music star Davido has slammed a Twitter user who faulted him over his claims of being invited by football icon, Cristiano Ronaldo.
Via the micro-blogging platform Twitter, now known as X, Davido recounted how Ronaldo personally invited him to watch a match at Old Trafford years back. He said the footballer had booked a dinner and all for him. Unfortunately, he lost the match and angrily went home.
Davido said since that day, he hasn’t forgiven the footballer, Maguire.
“Football ehn fit give person BP. I remember when CR7 personally invited me to watch the match at Old Trafford a couple of years ago. He don book dinner ALL! Party, chillin, etc. Nah, so dem go lose match. BABA VEX GO HOUSE. Since that day, I still haven’t forgiven Maguire.”
An X user who didn’t believe him, via his comment section, stated that Ronaldo had personally invited Davido; he would have sat with the crowd.
“If CR7 invited you, you won’t sit with the crowd, bro. Stop it”.
Replying to him, Davido sarcastically stated that he would have been number 9 to give Ronaldo assistance.
“I for dey number 9 dey give am assist, u’re right”.
Davido’s relationship with Ronaldo isn’t surprising. In 2023, during an interview, Davido spoke of his friendship with the Portuguese footballer. He described Ronaldo as his friend and reiterated that he is close friends with the footballer.
The power figures follow each other on Instagram.
A year back, despite his numerous wins and recognition, Davido had lamented over his career choice, expressing regret at choosing the wrong profession. While noting the wealth of football stars like Mbappe, Messi, and Ronaldo, Davido affirmed that footballers are living a luxury lifestyle.
Ronaldo isn’t the only International star Davido shares a close bond with.
The singer also shares a close relationship with American rapper Nicki Minaj. When got married in June, 2024, Nicki Minaj while performing on her Pink Friday 2 Tour in Gag City, Portugal, had shouted out the couple, congratulating them on their union. To celebrate them, Nicki asked the DJ to play “Holy Ground”.
Nicki also spoke about her relationship with Davido, praising him for being an incredible writer and melody maker. She said it is always a great pleasure working with him because of their mutual respect for one another.
Davido also shares a close relationship with another American star, Chris Brown. Back in 2023, Chris had left Davido blushing as he surprised him in grand style. The award-winning American singer had shown up unexpectedly at the Los Angeles leg of Davido’s “A Good Time” concert to perform his duet with Davido.
