Nigerians are reacting to South Africa’s ploy to overthrow Chidimma Adetshina in the ongoing Miss Universe pageant.
Kemi Filani reported that Chidimma Adetshina, a model, faced the wrath of South Africans after participating in the Miss South African beauty pageant, which she won but withdrew from following backlash from South Africans.
To compensate her, Miss Universe, one of Nigerian’s popular pageantry, allowed her to participate in the ongoing Miss Universe pageantry. The pageantry has received widespread attention from South Africans who are massively voting for Miss Kwara, Ufa Dania, to spite Chidimma Adetshina.
On X and Facebook, South Africans in large numbers were seen rallying support for Miss Dania, a plus-size model.
The support from South Africans has made Miss Dania, the top-winning lady at the ongoing pageantry. Kemi Filani did a check on the Miss Universe voting website, and it revealed that Chidimma and Dania are battling for the top spot, with Miss Kwara leading with 23901 votes and Chidimma with 23422 votes. The voting results percentage shows Adetshina at 19.59 per cent, and Dania at 19.99 per cent.

Refreshing your memory, back in July, Miss Adetshina, a 23-year-old Law student, won the Miss South African beauty pageant. However, her win was controversial as South Africans questioned her citizenship and took to social media to call for her removal. Adetshina is born to a South African mother and a Nigerian father.
An investigation into Chidimma’s roots by South African Home Affairs discovered that the identity of an innocent South African mother may have been stolen by Adetshina’s mother. This prompted her to withdraw from the competition.
Following her withdrawal, a Caucasian woman, Mia Le Roux, won the pageantry. She became the first Miss SA winner who is deaf and has a cochlear implant.
Grammy singer, Burna Boy had weighed into it, mocking South Africans as he noted how a South African didn’t still win the pageant. His statement didn’t sit well with some South Africans, who took to his comment section to drag him.
South African singer Tyla had also defended Adetshina and condemned South Africans for the bullying, which didn’t sit well with them.
